Three scripts, one engine
Harf reads German, English, and Arabic in the same document without language switching. Built ground-up so the hardest of the three — Arabic — works as reliably as Latin script.
Harf is TEKANIA's proprietary OCR engine. It reliably reads German, English, and Arabic — including the cases where standard OCR tools fail with Arabic typography. Available now.
Most OCR tools were built for Latin script and break down on Arabic: connected letters, right-to-left direction, and small dots and marks that change meaning. Even on German and English, accuracy drops sharply on real-world documents — scans, mixed fonts, low contrast. Harf was built to handle all three languages reliably under those conditions.

Harf recognizes text in difficult documents: contracts, invoices, government forms, scanned letters, and mixed-language correspondence.
Harf uses the Transformer architecture introduced by Vaswani et al. (2017) and is optimized for fast CPU inference. The proprietary OCR engine therefore runs efficiently without requiring a GPU.
